Blue Bayou Restaurant Disneyland
The Famous New Orleans-style Restaurant in the Pirates of the Carribbean ride. Call for reservations at 714-781-DINE (3463).

If you’ve been on the Pirates of the Carribbean ride, you’ve floated past this place before. So you know what the atmosphere is like: It’s like eating on the bayou at night, complete with simulated moon light, chirping crickets, flickering fireflies and fake bayou. That description may not sound charming but really, it is!

The food is Louisiana-style fish and beef, as well as gumbo, jambalaya, and the famous Monte Cristo sandwich. (Some say the Monte Cristo actually originated in Disneyland but others say it has existed since the 1800s.) Lunch and dinner menus are similar in items and price but they only offer the Monte Cristo ($19) at lunch.

Some sample menu items:

  • Appetizers: Crab cakes, $12.
  • Entrees: Blackened Island Chicken ($25), Beef Short Ribs ($27), Alaskan King Crab Legs ($35).
  • Children’s Menu: Mac-n-cheese, a Monte Cristo PB&J, or chicken drumsticks are $7. Prime rib with mashed potatoes is $11.

I can't really reach a consensus on whether the food is good or not. Some love the famed Monte Cristo sandwich, others say it's awful. Some swear by the crabcakes and prime rib, others say there's nothing worth ordering.

Blue Bayou Disneyland
Perhaps one reviewer put it best when she said "... the meals are probably only worth about 10 dollars a plate, and the other 20 is for the feeling of being outdoors in "The Bayou".

So if that’s worth it to you, call for a table.
