Eat? Dance? No Need to Decide! House of Blues Downtown Disney
House of Blues, 1530 S Disneyland Dr, Anaheim, (714) 778-2583House of Blues, Downtown Disney. I want to go straight here the next time I'm in Downtown Disneyland. From the old-fashioned country charm décor to the southern food to the live music and dancing, this place is festive and fun. You should know that dinner and music shows are separate. House of Blues puts on some great shows but you have to buy tickets; they don't dance by your dinner table or anything. See the daily schedule of who's playing and ticket prices.
However, there is some free live music if you know where to look. Tuesdays after 10pm there's an open mike, meaning whoever wants to perform, can. And Thursdays after 10pm, free blues performance in the restaurant! The food at House of Blues Downtown Disney is southern-style and there are tons of interesting things to choose from. See the full menu here, without prices or browse some examples here: - Appetizers: Crispy Catfish Nuggets with Sweet Potato French Fries and Spicy Tartar Sauce ($10) or Pan seared VooDoo Shrimp ($11)
- Soup and Salads include a Blackened Chicken Caesar Salad for $11 or Gumbo for $4 a cup.
- Sandwiches such as a Shrimp Po' Boy with Spicy Tartar Sauce, Cole Slaw and French Fries.
- Entrees like Jambalaya ($19) or Creole Shrimp ($20).
- Children's Menus are available, offering items like hot dogs & fries ($7) and pizza ($8).
My favorite reader's comment about this place is, "Wish I had ordered the bread pudding as the main course." (I'm assuming that's intended as a compliment to the dessert, not an insult to the main course.) I'd like to have dinner with this person! Or maybe just dessert.
One more thing: I haven't been to the famous all-you-can-eat gospel breakfast buffet but I did hear that it can be a challenge to eat your food what with all the hand waving and singing you're strongly requested to do. But it makes me laugh just thinking of my husband trying to drink his coffee and clap his hands, so that's on my to-do list for sure.
