Now of course, people have smartphones that tell them everything. How long is the wait? Where is the closest bathroom? Where are the hidden mickeys? What's the meaning of life? It's all there, and then some.

If you search for Disneyland iPhone apps (or Android apps) on your phone, you'll see a ton of choices: everything from planning your trip to trivia to Hidden Mickeys to Map apps and so on.

I prefer to do my planning at my computer (as opposed to my phone) and while game apps are great for passing time in line, the app I really find useful is one that tells me how long the lines are.

So I like Mousewait. This free app shows wait times and also posts up-to-the-minute news and discussions via Twitter and Facebook. The wait times are submitted by people who are at Disneyland that day, waiting in line, so it's pretty accurate. There are also lots of things to do in there while you're waiting i.e. tips, games, trivia, etc.

Disneyland itself doesn't have an app but the Disneyland mobile website (m.disneyland.com) is pretty awesome. There's almost too much information there but it's well-organized. Want to know where you can meet Tigger today? Critter Country from 11am-1:30pm. Looking for a vegetarian lunch in Adventureland? The Bengal Barbecue has that. What's the next live show appropriate for my pre-schooler? Well there are 6 actually.

Wait times are not quite as specific as Mousewait; they're just labeled "shorter wait", "moderate wait", etc. You can see height requirements and short descriptions of rides with photos which might be useful if you're not familiar with the attractions. You can also sort attractions a million ways: by height, by wait times, by location, accessibility, seasonal, inside, outside, upside down... again, almost too many options! But it's all there and it's all free so hey.
